Dino-Rabbit Domination

Hello yugioh players! Before I continue this article, I would like to give you guys an introduction about myself. Hi, my name is Ivan Wong of Team Phoenix and this will be my first article for Phoenix Games. For this article, I would like to talk about a deck that I run everywhere I go. Are you guys ready? Yup, is time to talk about Dino-Rabbit!

Strategy
Many would think that there are many strategies in this deck, but I would disagree. The strategy behind this deck is simple: attack, attack, and attack. Unlike Wind-up and dark worlds, you aren’t targeting your opponent's hand but going straight for their life point. Cards like Evolzar Laggia and Evolzar Dolkka allow you to negate the most threatening card and control the board with high attack creatures so you can continue to deplete their life point. After running this deck for so long, I have come to realize that this deck is an aggressive that has cards that controls the board. Never be afraid to attack with your Sabersaurus and Kabazauls because their attack point is very high!

Key Cards
Allow me to start with the cards that are fundamental part of this deck’s success.

Rescue Rabbit: Let me begin with the cutest mascot of the deck. As you all know, this card is the “balanced” version of Rescue Cat. While you are only able to grab normal monsters with the same name, this card seems far from being “balanced”. This cute little bunny card alone has the power to turn into one of the most powerful Rank 4 XYZ monster in the game. Don’t under estimate the power of cuteness!

Tour Guide from the Underworld: This card is amazing in Dino-Rabbit for 2 simple reasons. First, this card makes leviair which let you abuse your banished rescue rabbit. Second, this card searches for Sangan; Sangan can fetch you a copy of Rescue Rabbit in the deck.

Forbidden Lance: Forbidden Lance is one of the “MVP” of the deck due to its versatility. It serves as both an offensive card and a defensive card. Forbidden Lance is great at protecting the likes of Evolzar Laggia or Dolkka from effects, along with allowing damage step combat tricks to get over pesky monsters. Does your opponent like to attack with their monsters? Well lances allow you to punish your opponent in the damage step. Lance shines when protecting your XYZ monsters since it makes your monster UNAFFECTED by magic and traps. It just like another solemn judgment with the cost of 800 attack!

Sabersaurus / Kabazauls: The vanilla dinosaurs of the deck. Although they are have no effects, their attack point of 1900 and 1700 are relatively high. The true strength of those effect-less dinosaurs, are the fact that they are immune to a popular trap card that negates both effects and attack call Fiendish Chain!

The Progression of Dino-Rabbit
YCS Kansas City was the debut of Photo Shockwave. While Rabbit was considerably successful, it was not on par with Plants and even Chaos Control. Regardless of the bumps the standard build was beginning to coagulate. Dino-Rabbit are seeing even more play after YCS Kansas City. It continues to appear in the top tables of YCS Atlanta and YCS Guadalajara until YCS Leipzig in Germany where 19 out of top 32 players were piloting Dino-Rabbit. Finally, Dino-Rabbit has won its first YCS in Leipzig Germany! Until today, Dino-Rabbit continues to dominate the top tables of YCS and recently got 2nd place in YCS Long beach; the biggest YCS in history! The deck was piloted by a player from Manchester, United Kingdom. He was piloting his “generic rabbit deck” which main decked 2 copies of Snowman Eaters and 3 copies of Mystical Space Typhoon, 3 copies of Forbidden Lance and only 1 copy of Torrential Tribute. His reason behind running only 1 Torrential Tribute was that when playing rabbit “you would usually have a Laggia or Dolkka or a Vanilla that you would never want to torrential your field.” Congratulation to him for getting 2nd place in the biggest YCS in history!

Whether you love to run Rescue Rabbit or groan when you see your opponent go Rabbit into Evolzar Laggia turn 1, Dino-Rabbit is here to stay! I Wish everyone that are attending YCS Dallas good luck and be prepared for this deck.

I Hope all of you enjoyed my breakdown of Dino-Rabbit. Maybe you all have found the weakness of this deck by the time you finish this article.

See you guys next time!
